Dear ,
Happy Father’s Day to the dads among you!
For those of you whose fathers are no longer alive or in your life, I hope that you didn’t find the day too emotionally difficult.
Rather cherish the best memories of your dad and keep them deep in your heart.
In honor of Father’s Day, I asked my friends to share the biggest lessons they learned from their dads on LinkedIn and Facebook.
Carolyn Barth’s dad taught her well and provided a great example for all of us. He was her mom’s #1 champion.
Similarly, my husband’s Uncle Al always said, “Whatever you do, do it to please the women in your life and you’ll be a happy man.”
Life Lesson:
Tom Deierlein hoped his sons would learn, “Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. #grit”
If your father had human flaws, don’t let that leave you angry or upset.
Let go of those negative emotions since they only hurt you! Instead learn what not to do. (Hat tip: Carlos Abler!)
To support my marketing community, I took a page from my father’s playbook last week and hosted our Second Marketing Salon for senior marketers.
Marketing Salon Goals:
Despite being an “invitation only” event, a number of friends asked if they could bring a colleague.
These new faces supplied a key element to the community:
They added diversity to the mix with different perspectives and connections.
In today’s highly divisive environment, your brand and business must be inclusive. To encourage CMOs to be more
open and to foster a sense of belonging, Siegel+Gale’s June 12th Future of Branding Luncheon celebrated Pride 2019.
During a panel discussion, Maragret Molloy explored how brands can differentiate their businesses by becoming more inclusive, both internally and externally.
Why?
Because we all have the opportunity to be better than we are today!
Big tip of my hat to Matt Monath for sharing this photo. (BTW— Matt wasn’t only professional but also fun and willing to work with attendees!)
Lastly, I caught up with Marketing Superstar Erik Qualman at Meltwater’s Social Summit. (Hat tip: Zontee Hou of Convince & Convert).
