Dear , While Memorial Day honors soldiers who died in service to their country, for most Americans, it’s a 3 day holiday weekend. Without regard for the summer solstice, Memorial Day weekend marks the official start of summer in the US. Although schools are still in session in New York area, beaches open and families host cookouts. It’s also a big B2C sales promotion hook! Due to my work flexibility, my husband and I squeezed in beach time last week. Dressed in sweatshirts and jeans, the sun and ocean air greeted us on the empty Fire Island beach, a barrier island south of Long Island. But don’t interpret this to mean working remotely is fun, easy or productive. Rather wherever you are, whether it’s on the beach or in a hospital room, you can finish your deliverables. For me, remote work takes organization and personal discipline to accomplish deep work in a new environment whether I’m in a coffee shop, train, or fun location. Each location provides fresh stimuli that tug at my attention. I had to learn how to work regardless of where I am to take advantage of opportunities that take me outside of New York City. To be honest, it takes planning and practice to continue working when more fun options are available. My secret to working anywhere with my laptop and wifi:
