Dear , It’s the dog days of summer (at least in the Northern Hemisphere). New York City has been hot and filled with thunderstorms during the past week. From a weather perspective, it was a poor beach week. Like many of you, I’m less motivated to work than usual. Maybe it’s that I’m back from vacationing in Paris facing piles of work and to-do’s. Maybe it’s that I feel emotionally worn out from the political conventions. My husband is a political news junkie. In fact, data shows people are less productive in the summer for a number of reasons (Hat Tip: Daily Worth!)
Here are a few things I’ve been doing that have really boosted my summer productivity. Instead of fighting the summer sunshine, I make it work for me. I get up earlier, limit my to do list, and break projects into bite size chunks. As a result, I feel like I’m making progress. The key: Don’t compare your progress to the rest of the year. Then I do work-related activities that I usually don’t have time for. Even better they yield benefits in terms of making me feel good.
BTW, I’m attending Content Marketing World in Cleveland (Yes the city that hosted the Republican Convention! BUT don’t let that deter you. ) Content Marketing World is a key element of my annual event plan because it’s where the best minds in Content Marketing congregate, share and do business. It’s also a LOT of FUN!
